The first half of the school year is flying by! We've been working on all kinds of things. Students are becoming great at using text features and knowing how a non-fiction text is organized. They're using what they know about creative beginnings, good endings, and the parts of a paragraph to write personal narratives about our field trip to Honey Creek Schoolhouse. We'll be adding the finished writing to our digital learning portfolios soon! Students have also begun doing scientific observations of plants growing in different locations around the school. Ask your student how long they think the plant in our storage room will last or what happened to our plant that stayed outside during the deluge of rain.
Students attended a presentation by our local fire department this week where they learned how important an exit plan is for their homes. They'll be bringing home a handout about home fire exit plans. Our local firefighters also showed us all the pieces of safety equipment they wear.
We'll be having a little fun snack tomorrow afternoon in celebration of Fall and Halloween. I hope everyone has a safe and fun weekend. Hopefully the weather won't ruin anyone's plans!
